Remarks at a Boeing-Volga Dnepr Joint Press Conference

William J. Burns, U.S. Ambassador to Russia

Moscow, Russia, March 15, 2007

It is a great honor, indeed a privilege, to participate in this ceremony. I want to congratulate Volga-Dnepr and Boeing on the agreement that they signed today.

It is an important step forward for both companies, and represents the largest single deal in the history of Russian civil aviation. It is also another excellent example of partnership between Boeing and the Russian aviation industry, which offers many benefits for both our countries.

As Boeing and Volga-Dnepr remind us today, we have a great deal to gain by working together. It is highly appropriate that the world's leading oversized cargo carrier should be flying the world's best and most modern freighters.

Again, my sincere congratulations.
