Message from the Ambassador
The U.S. Embassy in Moscow is committed to expanding the trade and investment relationship between the United States and Russia. While the private sector will drive that process, the embassy can serve as an important resource for both U.S. and Russian businesses. Make sure to read the most recent Country Commercial Guide for Russia and Market Opportunities Report to learn about opportunities in the Russian market. We invite Russian companies to visit SelectUSA to find resources on investing in the United States. Business travelers to the United States can look here for information on obtaining a visa. Our American Citizens Services unit offers a variety of services to Americans in Moscow.
Russia acceded to the WTO in August, 2012. This will liberalize Russia’s trade regime and create new opportunities for U.S. exports and investments. For industrial and consumer goods, tariffs will decline from almost 10% to approximately 7%, and market access will improve for U.S. agricultural exports and services. Current trends are encouraging. U.S. exports to Russia in 2012 increased 29% to $10.7 billion.
But there’s lots of room for growth, and we invite you to take advantage of the resources on this website to be a part of it. If we can be of assistance, please let us know. I wish you every success as you develop your business in Russia.
