U.S. Embassy Contest Announcement

THEME OF ESSAY: "U.S. ELECTIONS AND CHALLENGES FOR THE FUTURE"
ESSAY LENGTH: 750 WORDS

Your essay submission will be judged by a panel of American and Russian media specialists, academics, diplomats, and journalists.

If your essay is selected as one of the 15 finalists, you will be notified the first week in September and asked to submit an additional 500 words on the latest developments in the U.S. presidential election campaigns.

The 15 finalist essays will be judged by a panel of distinguished journalists and academic experts. The winners will be announced the first week in October.

This is a great opportunity for your work to be read by distinguished faculty and prominent journalists!

Judging Criteria:

  • Originality of approach
  • quality/logic in reasoning/argument presented
  • expressive and fluent style
  • demonstration of background knowledge on U.S. election processes.

Students are encouraged to use a variety of sources such as newspaper articles, books, Internet research and/or personal interviews. Students should remember to cite any sources that they used.

Winning Essays will be published on the U.S. Embassy website. Winners will be invited to attend the U.S. Embassy election night celebration in Moscow in November, where winners will have the unique opportunity to meet distinguished diplomats, scholars, and a range of leaders in the public and private sectors. Winners will be awarded certificates of accomplishment.
