U.S. Trade Representative (USTR) Ron Kirk led a U.S. delegation to St. Petersburg, Russia, for the 13th Annual International Economic Forum. The forum was held to bring world leaders together to discuss today's pressing economic issues. Ambassador Beyrle, along with USTR Kirk afterward answered questions from the media.

On April 15 the Russian daily Izvestia published a full-page interview with Ambassador Beyrle. The interview detailed U.S. policy, the common Russian-U.S. interests on arms control and non-proliferation, and also explained U.S. positions on NATO enlargement and missile defense.

U.S. Sailors Celebrate Victory Day in Vladivostok
05-08-2009. Thirty U.S. sailors from the Ticonderoga-class guided-missile cruiser USS Cowpens (CG 63) visited Russian military veterans May 8 during their scheduled port visit to Vladivostok, and joined them in celebrating the shared victory over Nazi Germany in 1945.

Veronika Marchenko, head of the Mother’s Right Foundation of Russia, that provides legal and moral support to families of soldiers killed in peacetime, is one of the winners of the 2009 Secretary’s International Women of Courage Award.
