U.S.-Russian Cooperation in Combating Unfair Competition

In the spirit of cooperation engendered by the Bilateral Presidential Commission, on February 18, 2010, the Head of the Federal Anti-Monopoly Service Igor Artemyev presented Thomas Firestone, Resident Legal Advisor at the US Embassy with a Certificate of Merit for his outstanding work in advancing U.S.-Russian cooperation in combating cartels and unfair competition. In presenting the award, Artemyev noted the substantial progress in US-Russian cooperation during the past year, including joint US-Russian training programs on the investigation of criminal cartels, the visit of a high-level FAS delegation to the US in November and the conclusion of a Memorandum of Understanding between FAS, the US Department of Justice (DOJ) and the US Federal Trade Commission (FTC). FAS, DOJ and the FTC are now finalizing the details of a joint work plan on continued cooperation including joint seminars, exchanges of experts, and regular consultations on issues related to fair competition.
