Your strategic vision, deft management of complex issues, and perseverance in pursuing goals that advanced U.S. national interests and strengthened U.S. national security set the highest standard for extraordinary diplomatic achievement.”

On Tuesday, April 24, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton presented the Distinguished Service Award to Ambassador John Beyrle for his outstanding leadership and service as the U.S. Ambassador to the Russian Federation from 2008 until 2011. In her remarks, the Secretary described the Ambassdor Beyrle’s tremendous achievements in improving and expanding U.S.-Russian relations and his commitment to diplomacy and service to his nation. Deputy Secretary of State Burns, Assistant Secretaries Gordon and Gottemoeller and many other family and friends attended the ceremony. The Secretary also presented the Career Achievement Award to Ms. Jocelyn Greene, Ambassador Beyrle’s spouse and a career foreign service officer who retired this year.
