American Artist Lisa Lidow's "Eternal Games"

Location: Moscow
Dates: September 03 - October 31, 2004

On September 3, an exhibition of artwork by Lisa Lidow opened at the Museum of Contemporary History of Russia. Her artwork has been successfully received throughout the world. In Russia her work has never been displayed despite her Russian roots, which can be traced back to the Russian noble lineage of Dolgorukiy. Her encounter with Salvador Dali has left a big impression on her art. Lisa Lidow has displayed her work in the United States and Europe. Drawings on flat surfaces steadily became three-dimensional figures, which then transformed into painted manikins – a favorite medium of Surrealists. The exhibition will present "Chess Sketches," "The Last Supper," and "Cloning." "Chess Stetches" (1989-1993) is the exhibition's centerpiece and represents the culmination of Lisa Lidow's art. Presenting her work to the Russian viewer, artist offers to reflect on love, struggle, beauty, and the eternal game of life. The exhibition will run to the end of October.
