Warden Message – Swine Influenza (April 27, 2009)
U.S. citizens in the Russian Federation should be aware that the U.S. Centers
for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the World Health Organization (WHO) are monitoring
an ongoing outbreak of swine influenza A (H1N1). As of April 27, there have been no reported
cases in
Russia.
The Embassy is aware that the Russian Federal Consumer Protection Service has
issued an order to “ensure control” of the health of passengers arriving from the United States
or Mexico, ordering that passengers be screened for signs of infectious disease. We do
not know when or how this order will be implemented.
